County Kerry
Following the Beara Way up the peninsula brings us into Kerry County with the lovely coastline along the Kenmare Bay, hills that promise an exhilerating view of the far off mountains and sea, farms with the ubiquitious painted and curious sheep, standing stones from the megalithic era, the waterfalls of Gleninchaquin and Torc Mountain. There are mansions of the "the Establishment" of the Victorian Era standing in bustling contrast to the quiet and moody Famine Ruins, Ancient burial grounds, and a tranquil walk through an Irish suburb with its glorious gardens and windowed porches that endeavour to catch the elusive Irish sunshine. For the history enthusiast County Kerry offers many areas in and around Killarney, Kenmare, and Tralee to visit for personal experience of the Irish War of Independance, The Irish Civil War, and the Great Famine.
