The Dingle Peninsula
Exploring the Dingle Peninsula brings delights of all kinds. There is the town of Dingle to explore with the traditional music in many of the pubs, shopping at The Strand House and a lovely chat with owner Christy Quill, a romantic dinner at Ashes Bar and Restaurant, meeting Fungie the local dophin who entertains in the Dingle Bay, and enough photographic, sketching, or painting opportunities to satisfy any artist. The Dingle Peninsula has spectacular cliffs, deserted beaches, fantastic hikes up the slopes of Mt Brandon and the Slieve Mish Mountains. There are the gardens of Derreen, artist retreats, hidden galleries, megalithic ruins and circle forts, and villages where only Gaelic is spoken. There is a charm to the Dingle Peninsula, not only because at every turn is another amazing natural sight, but because the people of the Dingle Peninsula are so warm and inviting; treating the tourist as though she is a member of a long ago emigrated arm of their own family.
